The Keltia features a medium-tension ('lever' or 'folk' tension) Savarez 'carbon' strings and Camac precision levers. One may also order the harp strung in 'medium-light tension' (as the Eireann model) or in Bow Brand Lever Gut instead of the Savarez 'carbon' strings. The Keltia will offer a more expanded range of options (than the Eireann), making it thus more customizable in it's configuation.
Adequate tone and volume are always a concern on smaller harps, and I've developed these models to produce a tone that is sparkly clear in the treble and warm & bass-y in the lower registers, with good volume overall enabling the harp to be heard. The round back, introduced by French harp maker Erard in the early 1800's, produces a harp that is both light weight and comfortable to hold and play.
Many popular traditional harps in Ireland and the UK are about 48" or so in height and are fairly lightweight to facilitate transport. A base plate and detachable legs is an option with this harp (shown in photo above), allowing the harp to be played at a comfortable height for those so inclined, but still present a small package for transport once the legs are removed.
